The Greg Sover Band is excited to announce the release of "Politician". For the first offering from its upcoming album, Greg Sover and company reach back to revive a song from the catalogue of rock's first "super group" - the legendary Cream. Written by their late great bassist Jack Bruce along with his writing partner Peter Brown, "Politician" is a powerful guitar riff based blues-rocker. Once again produced by Garry Lee along with ex-Sigma Sound engineer Mike Tarsia, Sover and the band hold true to the "free-form" improvisational rock feel of the original version. Still, the Greg Sover Band adds its own touch, grounded in the tom-tom heavy "jungle-beat" provided by drummer Tom Walling, in a nod to the great Ginger Baker. Along with Allen James' chunky rhythms, Greg Sover's guitar soars it's blues riffs in and around his always soulful, passionate vocals. As the election year heats up, "Politician's" cynical lyrics about a world of power, greed, and mistrust seem to resonate as much in these strange, divided times, as they did when the song was first released.
lyrics
Hey now, baby
Get into my big black car
Hey now, baby
Get into my big black car
I want to just show you
What my politics are
I'm a political man
And I practice what I preach
I'm a political man
And I practice what I preach
So don't deny me, baby
Not while you're in my reach
I support the left
Though I'm leaning, leaning to the right
I support the left
Though I'm leaning to the right
But I'm just not there
When it's coming to a fight
